Still time for summer camp registations

There are endless opportunities from day camps to overnight trips, from sports to music to outdoor adventures. There are even some unique options for those with a technology interest including a Robotics/Engineering and Flight Simulator camps at Darlington as well as Parks & Rec’s LEGO vehicle engineering camp. Plus a number of camps focus on pottery, theatre and heritage studies.

Unity Christian School and Refined Player Personal Training are holding a basketball camp for boys and girls July 9-12 at Unity Christian School. Camp for rising 2nd graders through rising 6th graders will be held from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and will focus on skills, fundamentals, agility and having fun.  Camp for rising 7th graders through rising 12th graders will be held from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and will focus on skills, fundamentals, agility and the mental game. Rome YMCA
Rome-Floyd YMCA -The YMCA offers two options for kids. Kinder Camp is for ages 3-5 and is designed for the younger child and includes daily swim lessons, arts & crafts and supervised play time and field trips. Kinder Camp is offered as half-day or full-day program. Day Camp is for ages 6-12 and provides a full day of fun at YMCA Camp Bryant. Camp includes archery range, playing fields and nature trials, as well as swimming. There will be 10-week long sessions beginning May 21 through July 27. Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Association
Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority -Parks and Rec is offering a variety of day camps at a number of locations in the county. Staff members are still finalizing their complete camp listing but there will be lots of camp offerings including sports, cheerleading, gymnastics, LEGO vehicle engineering, and kid vs. wild outdoor camps. -Kid vs. Wild – Outdoor Camp: In partnership with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and the Floyd County Wildlife Association participants will enjoy a week of outdoor adventures. Activities include fishing, archery, canoeing/boating, outdoor cooking, wildlife indemnification and educations, first aid and more.
Ages: 8-13, Dates: June 18-22 or July 16-20, Time: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Cost: $100
-Camp GoodTimes is designed to provide a fun day camp experience for special needs participants ages 6-22. Camp activities include swimming, bowling, arts and crafts, horseback riding, movies, field trips and more.
Date: June 25-29, July 2-6, July 9-13, Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Cost: $85
Location: Gilbreath Recreation Center

-Traditional Summer Camp: Choose one week or join us for the entire summer! Campers will enjoy a weekly field trip, arts and crafts, enrichment programs, swimming, recreational games, movies and much more. Weekly themes and field trips will be posted at www.rfpra.com by Apr 22.
Ages: 5 – 13 (Campers will be separated into 2 age groups, 5-7 and 8 – 13)
Dates: May 29 – July 31, Time: 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Cost: $90 / Week

-LEGO Camp: RFPRA will offer another LEGO camp this summer but details are still being finalized. The camp is being redesigned to offer returning campers a new experience.
Date: TBD, Time: 9 a.m.-noon. Location: Thornton Recreation Center

Darlington School
-Darlington offers a combination of traditional day camps and specialty sports camps, including some overnight camps. Day camps include those focused on sports, arts, academics and adventure fun. Shorter University
camp participants playing the handbells -Shorter offers a number of sports camps for boys and girls as well as the Summer Arts Institute that focuses on keyboard studies, voice and musical theatre. Berry College
-Berry hosts a number of sports camps through their Athletic Department. Camps available include baseball, softball, boys and girls’ soccer, tennis, equestrian, and volleyball. Click here for the complete list of camps, dates, cost and registration.

Rome High

-Rome Wolves 16th Annual Youth Football Camp, June 4-7, 9 a.m.-noon. Football Instructional Camp for ages 6-14. Cost: $50 Campers will learn the basic skills and fundamentals of the game. Instruction will be provided by the Rome High coaching staff. Players will receive a T-shirt. WinShape Camps
-WinShape Foundation
offers both traditional and adventure overnight camps for boys and girls in grades 2-12. Campers participate in a number of outdoor and indoor activities, including evening Bible studies and activities. Again this year, they are offering a one-week camp for girls in grades 1-6 at Young Harris College, in addition to their traditional two-week camp at WinShape Campus at Berry. There are also one-week and two-week overnight camps for boys both offered at Winshape Campus at Berry. New this year, the organization is hosting WinShape Camps for Communities at various local churches. The closest camp for our area will be at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, June 25-29. Kindermusik at Berry College
-Kindermusik offers a number of musical opportunities for kids from newborn to 9 years old. Maymester and summer sessions are available for newborn-3 years old that meet weekly, plus they offer a family time for the entire family to participate together. Chieftains Museum
-Chieftains will host “AY” camp. “AY” means “summer” in the Cherokee language. The “AY” camp is for ages 8-12 and features Indian culture, history, storytelling, theatre, arts and crafts. Rome Civic Ballet
-Rome Civic Ballet offers week-long day camps for ages preschool to 6th grade. Dance camp gives campers the opportunity to experience dance from class to performance. No previous dance experience is necessary to enjoy dance camp and dance shoes are available to borrow. Camp includes study of ballet, tap, dance games, dress-up, arts and crafts and a performance at the end of the week. Camp dates will be available mid-April. CRBI nature camps

-Two summer nature camps being organized by the Coosa River Basin Initiative and the Rome-Floyd County ECO River Center June 18-22 and June 25-29. These nature camps are open to children entering grades 3-5; the cost is $125 per camper. The full-day camps run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. CRBI

The Grand Theatre
-Located in downtown Cartersville, The Grand Theatre has been a cultural landmark since 1929. The Grand Theatre offers four different music- theatre camps for elementary (completed grades 2-4), middle (completed grades 5-7) and high school (grades 7-12) levels. Campers will learn basic theatre skills and rehearse a musical that will be performed at the end of camp. Click here for camp information. Bartow History Museum
-The Bartow History Museum offers four single-day camps during June with one day for ages 4-6 and one day for ages 7-11 focusing on pioneer crafts, toys, jewelry making and more. There will be two week-long, half-day camps for kids ages 7-11: “The Civil War: Citizens and Soldiers” on July 10-13 and “Time Travelers” July 24-27. Click here for camp information.
